Simple Outfit Advice for any Boudoir Shoot

Are you getting ready for a boudoir photoshoot?

If so, you may be feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. On the one hand, you can’t wait to see the final results and feel confident and beautiful in front of the camera. On the other hand, you may be feeling a little unsure about what to wear for your boudoir outfits and how to prepare.

But don’t worry, with a little planning and preparation, you can have a successful and enjoyable boudoir photoshoot that showcases your beauty and confidence. In this post, I’ll share some tips and outfit ideas to help you feel more prepared for your upcoming shoot.

Embrace the Fear

First and foremost, it’s important to acknowledge and embrace any fears or anxieties you may have about your photoshoot. Feeling exposed and vulnerable in front of the camera is completely normal. But, don’t let your fears hold you back from wearing something that makes you feel confident and beautiful. If you’re hesitant to wear a bold outfit, try stepping out of your comfort zone and see how it makes you feel. Remember, the key to a successful boudoir shoot is feeling comfortable and confident in your own skin.

Choose Outfits with Variety

Variety is key. Boudoir photographers pick poses that work well with your outfits so having different types of clothing creates a bigger and more interesting gallery of images. You will also feel inspired by the mood changes in your clothing which will come across in your photos.

Choose outfits that offer different levels of coverage and styles. This will help you achieve a range of looks that can be incorporated into your final photos. For example, start with a cozy and cute outfit, then switch to a spicier lingerie set, and finally end with a classic “white sheet” look. This will give you a range of images to choose from when creating your final album.

Accessorize

Don’t forget to accessorize! Boudoir photoshoots are the perfect opportunity to pull out those pieces you’ve been saving for a special occasion. This could include your grandmother’s pearls, a silk robe, or even your favorite pair of heels that are too painful to wear out. Accessories can elevate your look and make you feel even more glamorous.

Keep Your Shoes Clean

If you’re planning on wearing heels for your shoot, make sure they are clean and free from any stickers or marks. A little bit of cleaning can go a long way in making your shoes look their best in your final photos.

Cut Tags and Try Everything On

Before leaving for your photoshoot, make sure you cut all the tags off your clothing, (the fabric tags not just the paper ones!) I’m talking the 3” long pink Victoria’s secret tag that contains more fabric than the underwear it’s attached to.

It’s also a good idea to try on all your outfits beforehand to make sure you feel comfortable and confident in each one. Shopping for your body is key to finding pieces that accentuate your best features and minimize any areas you feel less confident about.
